Lots of visuals, lots of improvement from all of the bands that participated. There was definitely some dancing at the show and smoke and fire. I missed most of Chapelblaque, but I heard that the stageshow was nothing to be missed. Heavy gothdeathmetal was the order with much thrashing and crashing. Big and loud. Ooooo that felt good, I only wish that I had been there for the whole thing.
Dead Letter Office has changed alot since the first of the "An Ear To An Atmosphere" series, which I guess this will be the last of. Three shows this year at the Black Cat, The Interzone and now at Phantasmagoria, have made the release of this cd a fun time more than once. DLO still has the off kilter ambience that influences its very core, but they have been growing musically at an alarming rate. Acoustic melodies and cool beats spice up things even more, though this duo is still no stranger to heavy and brooding noise. Make sure to check them at their next show.
communion played last, amid clouds of smoke and weird dancing and lightning effects. The costumes were more and cooler than last time, and there were more dance pieces, which got more than a few in the crowd going. I have heard that they are releasing another video soon, perhaps they will include footage from this show. The ambient pieces also were cool, always on the verge of crashing into madness and mayhem.
The show left me with a good and happy feeling, well purged of any negativity that I had in me upon arriving. I recommend that you see any of these bands if you see that they are playing. It will be a good time and unique experience.
